You Scream, I Scream, We All Scream for Frozen Desserts: A call for posts!
After the big success of Strawberry Seduction a few months back, I’ve been eager to put together another food blog event. I was floored by the enthusiasm, creativity, and mouth-watering dishes that you all sent in. So I decided it was finally time to host another seasonally appropriate event: You Scream, I Scream, We All Scream for Frozen Desserts!

Regular readers of my blog know I’m a big fan of ice cream. I was happily the odd one out there making ice creams in the dead of winter. But now with the heat of summer finally bearing down on many of us, there won’t be quite so many raised eye brows over ice cream. So I’m calling on you, fellow food bloggers, to put your creativity towards cooling off with something sweet this summer. Create some delicious, summery frozen desserts–whether they be ice creams, gelatos, sorbets, granitas, frozen mousses, frozen yogurts, kulfis, etc–and send them in!
So here’s the rules:
- Your entry must be some sort of recipe or dish that you have prepared and recently posted (no earlier than May 2008, please) that showcases a frozen dessert you have made.
- Email me at mtm26@cornell.edu (update: some people have encountered troubles emailing me at that address. You can alternatively try emailing me at mikemulligan@gmail.com) with the following:
- The subject line should read: Frozen Desserts Entry
- Your name
- Your blog’s name
- Recipe name
- Permalink to your post
- Your location/country
- Optional: a photo of your dish, no larger than 150 pixels in either dimension, please.
- All entries are due by the end of Monday, July 7th, 2008, Eastern Standard Time.
- You can submit as many entries as you’d like, so get to it!
- Your entry should contain a link back to this page. It would also be nice if you link to the roundup when it goes online a few days later, but I’ll forgive you if you don’t.
- If you’d like to include a logo to go with your entry on your blog, feel free to use this:

Or, if you want something a little larger:

If you have any further questions, feel free to email me or post your questions in the comments below this post. If you’ve never made a frozen dessert before, now is a great time to start. They’re easy, impressive, and really rewarding.
I hope to hear from you all soon and look forward to seeing what beautiful dishes you can come up with! And even if you don’t enter, be sure to check back to see all of the entries. Spread the word and scream for frozen desserts!
If you haven't already, you should subscribe to Mike's Table so that you never miss a post. You can use RSS and/or receive an email every time there's a new post! Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you again!

Great thinking! I was thinking it was high time for a batch of ice cream!
June 7th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
Mike, it’s 34 Celcius up here (you do the math) and ice cream would just about right at this time.
I’m a novice in this field but it’s time to get with the program…ALL IN!
PS. post reminders….

Well aren’t you clever! I’m actually making ice cream right at this very moment
June 7th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Sounds great! Your strawberry event was too early for Tennessee strawberries, but this is perfect.
June 8th, 2008 at 12:31 am
Oh boy! I just made some ice cream yesterday! I haven’t even photographed it yet. Woohoo! For once, I’m early!
June 8th, 2008 at 9:52 am
I love my ice cream maker, so this shouldn’t be a problem! Sounds fun!
June 8th, 2008 at 11:55 am
YAY! I’m sending you an e-mail this very minute! Thanks for organizing such a cool event!
June 8th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
The strawberry event was much to early for strawberries in Northern Germany, but I have prepared and photographed it.

Hi there Mike…woohoo…better late than never as they say. Phew…have been a bit occupied with the kids hols & chicken pox kinda things. Great to hear of such a wonderful event. My minds ticking…will work up some elbow grease (*read very jealous of all folks who own ice-cream machines*) & send something in for sure. Take care

Oooo.. I wanna play! I wanna play!
Sadly, I discovered your blog too late to properly partake in your Strawberry Seduction series, but I’m sure I can come up with a hot, frozen treat for this one!
And almost a whole month to rack my brain! Actually, I just came up with an idea (and must go write it down before I forget!)

Mike, some great improvements since I last visited! looks awesome.
I dont have an ice cream maker, but maybe I’ll try to put together something that can get by without an ice cream maker. and then stare enviously at everyone else’s mouthwatering options with all that creamy churned goodness.

Hi Mike,
What an excellent idea!
I’ve just made some rather evil ice cream with 3 kinds of chocolate. Hope you like it.
I’m in Malaysia and ice cream is more than a treat, it’s essential
I’ve emailed you, but in case it ends up in spam, here’s the link to my post:
